Supports P2 Technology with Panasonic

Dayang, Panasonic and CCTV have signed the agreement for choosing P2 Technology and Dayang Products to develop CCTV Economy Channel. Today, P2 technology has become the next revolution of archive for TV Station, Media Sources in the broadcasting industry. Besides Thomson, Pinnacle, Avid has announced to support P2 technology, Dayang is going to join this union. Previous NAB2004, Dayang has stepped the further cooperation with Panasonic on this next generation archive technology. While P2 Technology comes out to the global market, Dayang will provide all the desktop workstation and network solution with P2 technology compatible.
Dayang and Panasonic hopes that P2 technology will be developed around the completion of TV station workflow. The World Cup Game and the Winter Olympics in 2006 has already chosen to use P2 products; therefore, P2 will be a true revolution for the video archive technology in the broadcasting field. Panasonic has already considered about integration P2 with DVCPRO series, and even computer network.
Three Super Achievements in 2003
In the years of 2003, Dayang achieved three significant projects we would like to mention here. They prove Dayang as an excellent broadcasting system integrator in China no matter on single desktop, or on huge networking solution projects. These three projects are: Taiwan ERA Digital Newsroom Network Project, China Broadcast & TV AV Data Center Project, and China Digital Movie Program.
Taiwan ERA Digital Newsroom Network Project
In June of 2003, Dayang Technology Development Inc. won the ERA digital newsroom network project by using Dayang Net technology. In this project, Dayang X-edit, the advanced NLE system, applied Matrox DigiSuite LX and MAX to implement highly efficient and powerful editing.
Taiwan ERA is a 24 hour news channel broadcasting 14 hours live program. All the sources are from various channels which include domestic AV wires, local news, international wires and satellite systems. With the need of program quality and quantity, ERA decided to apply a digital networked system which can cover not only news script but also video and audio simultaneously. Also ERA wants this system extend to studio play out.
Dayang configured 24 on-line workstations and 150 off-line workstations, including 70 mobile DV workstations. AV clips will be ingested through on-line workstation and mobile DV workstations and will be stored in central storage for share. For those on-line workstations Dayang Technology applied Matrox professional video cards to make sure the efficiency and stability of news program.
China National Broadcast Media Archiving Center Project
As one of the most complex media management system in broadcasting industry in the world, China National Broadcast AV Archiving Center project covers complete workflow of Media data from creation, processing, storage, searching, and publishing. With Dayang own knowledge property right of world leading technology, this largest scale MAMS in the world, had a successfully test-run in September 1st 2003. It indicates a real MAM system coming into practicality phase.
The project contains up to 100 cataloging workstations, more than 2000 browsing workstations in the publish system based on the WAN environment. Automatic batch capture is realized by applying manipulator of tape library, and up to 300 hours digital AV programs are created through near 20 ingestion channels. More than 20 high performance servers imply large scale transferring by means of cluster. The system projects to reach one million hours as total storage capability which include 30TB online storage, 1200TB near-line storage, and 1200TB offline storage at the first phase. Besides, Dayang play a key role in working out national cataloging standard led by CCTV.
China Movie Bureau of SARFT Project
After participating in programming and constructing China Broadcast & TV MAM project, Dayang get the honor of constructing China digital movie archiving platform with China Movie Bureau of State Administration of Radio Film & TV (SARFT) in a project quoted up to 28 million RMB.
Aiming on constructing Chinese digital movie archiving and distribution platform, this system realizes digitalizing, cataloguing, storing and publishing all of homemade and imported movies. Cooperated with the soon released five digital pay TV channels, this project is to construct a SD movie program platform comprised with different sub-systems such as ingestion, storing, management, editing, and digital broadcasting, provide digital program to SARFT. Another objective is to build the digital network, implementing new workflow and management system.
This system is a real networked total solution covering capturing, editing, broadcasting and storage, which shows great significance to future TV stations. The highlight of this system is the cataloguing standard designing which meet the needs from both movie and TV.
